Fundraise for Charity

We hope you are looking forward to participating in the Surrey Hills Challenge! As the biggest sporting challenge in Surrey, it is expected to draw families, walkers and runners of all ages and abilities from communities across the county to enjoy the inspiring landscape of the Surrey Hills.

The entrants fee cover the cost of staging and managing the event with any funds raised by our participants donated to the Surrey Hills Trust Fund. By taking on the additional challenge of fundraising you can help the conservation of the unique Surrey Hills countryside.

What will the raised funds be used for?

The Community Foundation for Surrey is an independent charitable trust established to inspire local giving for local need. They support local community and voluntary groups who are making a difference to the quality of local community life by awarding grants to fund their work.

The Community Foundation established the Surrey Hills Trust Fund to exclusively help local projects and community groups within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Your donations will enable the Trust Fund to help local projects conserving the AONB and support the people who live, work and enjoy the area. Projects will include landscape conservation, educating younger generations on the importance and value of the countryside, and enhancing the ecology & biodiversity of the local area.

In the Spring of 2015, fire devastated over seven hectares of prime heathland on Farnham Heath Nature Reserve in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding NaturalFarnham Heath 2 Beauty (AONB). A grant from the Surrey Hills Trust Fund has aided the RSPB with safeguarding the heath from fire damage in the future.

Leatherhead Youth Project 2In 2016, the Surrey Hills Trust Fund has funded the Leatherhead Youth Project to provide a unique outdoor learning experience to young people who may not have otherwise had the opportunity. This funding helped them to coordinate a two day programme in the Surrey Hills which saw students undertake Forest School Survival Skills training. This involved building shelters, camp fires and learning how to forage for food as well as outdoor team building, helping them to engage with the Surrey Hills countryside and boosting confidence and learning.
